Next in the Line
As we move into the colder seasons I feel the view naturally moves inside and the gaze narrows. Call it "hygge", call it " hunkering down" - its a cosy intimacy of seeing our favorite things at hand. No surprise that on the boards next are Still Lives framed around ordinary objects singled out as delightful.
Framed acrylic on canvas, 36 x 24", in process
Daybreak, Blown Tulips
The morning light cuts through the blooms considered spent, creating a stained glass like intensity in front of the east facing window.
pastel, pencil, graphic and ink or archival paper, 12 x 18"
Morning, Coffee Outside
Originally part of the Blairgowrie work, the abstract nature of this idea felt out of step with landscapes from the rest of this series. The carpet of moss was chill and damp against the smooth, warmth of the mug.
acrylic on canvas, 48 x 48"
Evening, Whisky, no Shoes
This is the quiet moment when the shoes come off, the whisky is poured and day truely ends. The soft textures of the rug and upholstery contrast the the glow of the glass.
